Hello Everyone
I've got very exciting news to share
with all of you--I'm just
jumping up and down for joy ;-))
On 1.26, Thursday, I got a call from an editor at Harlequin. I
returned it, but she wasn't there and asked her to call me on Friday.
1.27. Tara (editor) did call me about
9:30 a.m. on Friday and talk about a bolt of lighting out of the blue; She
asked me to be a LAUNCH author on a new paranormal line called Nocturne, that
will be launching Oct/2006!!!
Now, I was a launch author for Silhouette Bombshell and that I
considered the penultimate honor--I never expected to ever be asked to launch
a line--there just aren't that many lines and to be considered to head the
ship for a series is just so rare that it
defies the possibility of happening.
Well, it's happening TWICE now!! Within 2 years, I'll be a launch
author two times. Good grief!!
And, luckily, I had a book project/idea on a paranormal saga/series in the
footsteps of my very successful Morgan's Mercenaries that I'd been quietly
working on for the past couple of years--and it exactly fits what Tara is
looking for!
So, we're in a RUSH to get this book done by end of April 2006 so that it can
be out by Oct/2006.
Nocturne is pre-launching in July/Aug/Sept with 2 REPRINT books by various
authors that are paranormal--and guess what? One of mine will be there: Hangar
13!! So, this is just such an incredible, completely unexpected gift. I signed
a book contract for 3 books for Nocturne. The original books begin in
October/2006, and I'll be the launch book of the first 2 to come out. And
then, Nocturne will put out 2 books a month from then on....
And, best of all I get to work with Tara, who was my editor many
years ago--and she used to be Silhouette Editorial Director over all
Silhouette series until the reorganization at Harlequin and she moved up and
into other things that interested her. To have Tara at the helm of a series is
just an unbelievable stroke of luck because she's been in the business for a
long time and knows it like the back of her hand. Plus, she's a known quantity
to me, as an author, because she was my editor when I started Morgan's
Mercenaries at Silhouette Special Edition. Morgan's Mercenaries is the most
well known ongoing saga/series in the history of romance. Thanks to Tara there
at my back and believing in me and my vision/what I write, we are an
unbeatable team.
Now, NOCTURNE is something special!! Tara wanted dark, brooding, dangerous,
life-death situations, threats, high adventure kind of books. Paranormal
covers the gamut of metaphysics from vampires, werewolves, shape shifters,
telepaths, telekinesis, and all the rest.
And of course, that's where I write :-))
so, this is a marriage made in heaven, so to speak between me, an old editor
who moved on and is very high in the organization now and doing great things
for it and her authors.
If someone would have asked me what my dream was it would have been: to write
Native American paranormals--and so, I get my chance. I also got the go ahead
to write stand alone books for HQN too, and so my ability to write/share
metaphysics and spirituality (it's called 'paranormal' by the book industry),
is a dream come true. I'm just so high on this--I'm still in shock over it. It
happened so fast that I'm still staggered by it all.
But, I'm thrilled pink! And So now, I have
the book manuscript for Unforgiven (Book One of
the Warriors of Light) due in April 2006 and another book manuscript due on June 15,
2006 (HQN/War Clouds -- working title--on my first Native American paranormal
for them). I'm going to be throttles to the fire wall here, as a result, but
my heart and soul are into these books and what it can mean around the world
to introduce others to metaphysics in the best of ways--through great
storytelling and a great publisher ready to take chances on new things!
PHEW!!!
Warmly,
Lindsay
